Divine Light

D

On a starry starry night
Moon was shining clear and bright.
Suddenly glimpsed eye a stunning sight
This world drenched in Divine Light.

Golden yellow I perceived
His Divine presence very subtly concealed.
Bountiful blessings I received
Brightness of the light so revealed.

Source of strength for one and all
Cascaded like a waterfall.
Engulfing nature like a huge shawl
Faith in The Lord it meant to install.

My very existence is now pledged to You,
You may treat my body as Your lute.
Play all Your tunes as it does suit
To govern this world from branch to root.

My awakened self makes a plea
Pardon my sins, let me be free
Guide me through as a trustee
Teach me to be with You in harmony.

The ultimate joy of being with You
Is now overdue
I humbly stand in queue
Pray help me cut through.

Obeisance to my revered Master
For stirring me out of deep slumber
Preparing me for this Divine encounter
With the Supreme Being my creator.

About me

Indrani Roychoudhury

Retirement after long service and movement of grown-up children away from home brought about a sea change in my life. I started reading Rabindranath Tagore’s poetry on nature, love and devotion which aroused spiritual leanings within me. Even cursory browsing of translations of Bhagwad Gita helped to sprout newer thought processes within my inner self. The result was peace with the difficulties of life.

Simultaneously, household activities started taking up more time. My dormant interest in cooking special dishes got life and simple items such as making Jhal Muri gave me immense joy. This simple Bengali street food travelled with me to USA and Switzerland where my son Meher was staying with his family.

During the Covid period my daughter Piuli stayed with me for 2 years when she encouraged me to experiment with a fresh style of dressing. Sartorially, I am a totally changed person which friends have started noticing.

An altogether novel interest in theme-based painting encouraged me to write poetry and paint in consonance with the subject. Simultaneously, my passion for upliftment of underprivileged children came to the forefront and I began coaching them at Sarita Udyan, a nature park in Gandhinagar where I stay. I am enthusiastic about education and development of girl child and my composition Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao drew inspiration from a call given by our Prime Minister Shri Narendrabhai Modi.

I feel blessed to have been able to develop this web site containing my compositions, paintings, and photos.
