Moon from my window

M

Sharing this picture of a beautiful sight,
In a clear sky moon was very bright.
Saw it from my window and jumped in delight,
Stood dumb-struck watching it at midnight.

The night was very calm and silent,
Wind was not in the least violent.
The crescent shaped moon was dominating the
environment,
Believe me it was an electrifying moment.

The Asopalav trees my neighbour had planted ,
Grew very tall and left me enchanted.
They must surround the house is what was wanted,
Their towering structure could not have been
supplanted.

Between two tall Asopalav trees,
The moon was directly gleaming at me.
Got soaked in an aura of tranquility,
Stood unmoving in peace and serenity.

Though not a professional photographer,
I clicked this picture like an amateur.
It is a very hazy miniature,
Of a celestial occurrence in nature.

Seeing the beauty of the moon,
My imagination got provoked very soon.
Wishing I could float like a balloon,
To a distant land for an endearing honeymoon.

About me

Indrani Roychoudhury

Retirement after long service and movement of grown-up children away from home brought about a sea change in my life. I started reading Rabindranath Tagore’s poetry on nature, love and devotion which aroused spiritual leanings within me. Even cursory browsing of translations of Bhagwad Gita helped to sprout newer thought processes within my inner self. The result was peace with the difficulties of life.

Simultaneously, household activities started taking up more time. My dormant interest in cooking special dishes got life and simple items such as making Jhal Muri gave me immense joy. This simple Bengali street food travelled with me to USA and Switzerland where my son Meher was staying with his family.

During the Covid period my daughter Piuli stayed with me for 2 years when she encouraged me to experiment with a fresh style of dressing. Sartorially, I am a totally changed person which friends have started noticing.

An altogether novel interest in theme-based painting encouraged me to write poetry and paint in consonance with the subject. Simultaneously, my passion for upliftment of underprivileged children came to the forefront and I began coaching them at Sarita Udyan, a nature park in Gandhinagar where I stay. I am enthusiastic about education and development of girl child and my composition Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao drew inspiration from a call given by our Prime Minister Shri Narendrabhai Modi.

I feel blessed to have been able to develop this web site containing my compositions, paintings, and photos.
